"Family History" was first published in 1962. It is a journal of serious scholarship containing transcriptions and editions of original family histories, genealogical and heraldic documents and articles, guides to research, reviews, illustrations and facsimiles of documents.

Previous issues have included such articles as "Irish Wills in the PCC: "A Sixteenth Century, Alphabet of Arms", "Sources for Kent", "Psychology of Genealogy" and "Gretna Green Marriage Records".
