The Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies

The School of Family History

The Institute's extensive library consists of almost thirty thousand items with much of the collection being unique. These catalogues provide a way to locate items within the library.

During the 1940's to 1960's, Cecil R Humphery-Smith was involved with the national work, led by the Society of Genealogists, to collect monumental inscriptions from graveyards. Much time was spent talking to school children and teachers about this important work and this led to many collections of MI's being transcribed by school children during their holidays. This database is an index to those not previously published on behalf of the Institute.

The index is arranged by county, parish and surname.

If more information is available this is indicated with a 'Y' in the 'More' column.
