2020 IHGS Examinations
With no clear directive as to how the country will relax social-distancing measures, we have decided to create a level of certainty for our 2020 exam candidates. After much thought it has been decided that the examination programme for the remainder of the year will be as follows:-
The Diploma in Genealogy. The final consolidation workshop will be held at the IHGS the week commencing 5th October and the Diploma Library Assessment will be held on Tuesday 3rd November. Diploma candidates should contact the course tutor, Les Mitchinson, email@example.com for further details.
The Higher Certificate in Genealogy. The Paper One exam will be held on Saturday 21st November with the option to sit the examination at Canterbury or Petersfield. The IHGS Director of Education will facilitate one further workshop in Petersfield for those candidates who subscribed to the series of revision workshops. The workshop has been planned for Tuesday 29th September.
Higher Certificate candidates are also invited to attend the four two-hour consolidation sessions held in Petersfield on 19th October, 2nd, 9th and 16th November. These sessions form part of the LMentary Higher Certificate Course and are being offered free of charge to IHGS candidates. Contact Les Mitchinson to reserve your place.
Students who have completed the Correspondence Course in Genealogy can enrol for the examination until the 2nd November.
Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced Certificate in Genealogy Examinations. It is expected that the monthly examinations will resume at IHGS on Wednesday 1st July 2020 subject to Government guidelines on social-distancing. Dates will be published on the IHGS website.
Heraldry Examinations. The Elementary and Intermediate Level in Heraldry examinations will be held at the IHGS on 21st November.
Diploma 2021. To accommodate students who were planning to sit the June Higher Certificate exam and, then to enrol on the Diploma Course it has been decided that the start date of the Diploma Course will be deferred to January 2021. This course will be completed in September 2021.
Higher Certificate Examinations 2021: These will take place in June and November as usual: the dates will be announced soon.
Awards Day: Sadly there will not be a 2020 Awards Day. Graduates will be invited to the 2021 Awards Day which will be planned for late September or early October.
We are sorry for any disruption that had been caused by the present circumstances and we have therefore tried to provide a measure of certainty wherever possible.
