Invitation to Become an IHGS Family History Fair Representative – 2026 Season
We are expanding our successful fair programme in 2026 and we want YOU to run the stands.
We are inviting current students, recent graduates and IHGS alumni.
What’s involved?
- Work in pairs (you can choose your partner or we’ll match you)
- Staff an IHGS stand at one or more family history fairs near to where you live (all venues will be within 80 miles of both representatives)
- Chat to visitors, hand out leaflets, collect sign-ups and promote our courses
- One (or more) Saturday(s) (or occasionally Sunday) typically 10 am–4 pm
- Opportunity for you to recommend fairs local to you.
How are you paid?
- £80 each representative flat fee per fair (paid within 14 days)
- Up to £50 travel expenses (45p/mile or 2nd-class rail)
- 10% commission on every new enrolment you generate – split with your partner → Example: One full Higher Certificate course = £260 commission (£130 each) → One £100 Bitesize course = £10 commission (£5.00 each).
- We only book fairs where two of you already live locally, so there are no overnight stays and minimal travel.
Training & support
- 30-minute Zoom training session, recorded
- Full materials pack posted to you (banner section, leaflets, giveaways)
- Simple one-page agreement
