Enjoying Who Do You Think You Are?

Monday 27th July 2026

We are now three quarters of the way through Series 23 of the BBC's Who Do You Think You Are? Last week's episode saw actor Adeel Akhtar investigate his family history in Kenya, with a particularly touching moment when he realised that his great-grandfather opened a school for girls, which in turn educated his own grandmother.

Other standout episodes of this series include Ruth Madeley's research into her grandmother, who it was found out was adopted. The telephone call between Ruth and her father was an amazing moment in television, when it was revealed that her father had known his biological grandmother, who remained close to the family. Although the question of whether his mother knew the truth about her birth remained unanswered.

Two episodes remain, with actress Harriet Walter and athlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson both exploring ancestral links outside the UK. These air on 30th July and 6th August.

If you would like to explore your own ancestry then contact us today to talk to our team of professional genealogists about how we can help.
