Many thanks to all those who took time to submit an entry. Without exception all entrants correctly identified the sinister arms as being those of the BROUCKNER family.
However, several people went one step further to identify that the impaled coat was that of Barbara BROUCKNER, the daughter of Lewis William BROUCKNER, who married Edgar DISNEY on 23 October 1834.
One submission was even accompanied by an image of the relevant parish register, corroborating the heraldic evidence with genealogical proof.
And the winner of this month’s competition is……Lynette Watson!
Congratulations Lynette and to everyone else, do keep an eye out for a slightly more taxing challenge in next month’s IHGS newsletter, which will also include the now traditional festive quiz.
