To help you get started, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions. Here, you will find detailed information about our research process, costs, timelines, and the type of information we need to begin uncovering your ancestral roots. Whether you’re a beginner or have already started your research, our expert team is here to assist you every step of the way.
After you contact us, we will provide a free, no-obligation estimate for your requested research. Costs vary based on the information you provide and the availability of relevant records. Estimates differ for a one-off search, a single line of enquiry, or research involving both paternal and maternal lines. We conduct research in stages with an agreed budget for each stage and offer a monthly instalment plan to spread the cost.
A comprehensive round of research typically traces both maternal and paternal lines back several generations. While we cannot guarantee the exact extent of our findings during any stage, we aim to go as far as possible within the agreed budget. Once we exhaust the funds available, we will provide the option to proceed further. You can decide to continue the research, explore another ancestral line, or pause before initiating further research.
We can start with as much or as little information as you have. Ideally, provide as much detail as you know about your family. However, we can begin with just your name and date of birth if necessary.
While most of our genealogy research is conducted in England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland, we also have researchers farther afield. Contact us with your enquiry to see if we can assist with your specific needs.
Our goal is to complete enquiries within 4 to 8 weeks. If the research takes longer, we will keep you informed of our progress. Smaller commissions can be completed in less time.
Upon completion, you will receive a full narrative report in a loose-leaf folder, bound with ribbon and including a title page. The report contains copies of documents examined, transcripts, any certificates purchased, and full details of the historical sources consulted. Additional copies of the report can be provided for relatives if desired.
Your family tree can be beautifully drawn using information you provide or from research we undertake. We offer a variety of sizes, from A4 to A0, ensuring your family history is displayed with the grandeur it deserves.
Enhance your family tree by incorporating photographs and pictures, adding a personal touch that brings your ancestry to life. If your research reveals a coat of arms, we can include heraldic artwork, creating a truly unique and visually striking representation of your heritage.
For a timeless and exquisite family heirloom, opt for a hand-scribed pedigree in coloured inks on handmade paper. This traditional method produces a masterpiece that will be cherished for generations. Each hand-scribed family tree is crafted with precision and care, making it a perfect gift or a culmination of your genealogical journey.
Our family tree charts are versatile and can be updated as new information becomes available. We offer multiple copies, allowing you to share your family history with relatives and create a lasting legacy.
Affordable and Tailored to Your Needs
We provide a wide range of prices, styles, and presentation options to fit every budget. Whether you desire a simple chart or a detailed, ornate pedigree, Achievements ensures that your family tree is crafted to your exact specifications.
