David Broomfield, an IHGS Trustee, was born in Enfield and grew up Hampshire before studying History at Sheffield University.

He became interested in heraldry at the age of 10, since when his passion for the subject has led him to survey and give lectures on the heraldry of country houses, public schools and Cambridge Colleges.

David has been a member of The Heraldry Society for 40 years and of the Cambridge University Heraldic and Genealogical Society for more than 20 years.

His talk on the famous Cavendish family spans four centuries and presents their fascinating story heraldically and genealogically, including the houses and estates they acquired along the way.
