Following the closure of both the Lowestoft and Bury St Edmunds branches of Suffolk Archives in 2024, documents and sources held there were relocated to The Hold, Ipswich. This represents the purpose built main repository of the Suffolk Archives, situated on Ipswich's Waterfront, which was opened to the public in 2021.
This centralisation of Suffolk records has meant that The Hold has been closed to researchers since October 2024.
Suffolk Archives has now announced that The Hold will reopen from Tuesday 4th February 2025. Further details regarding opening times can be found on the Suffolk Archives website here.
