Palaeography courses

 Designed for beginners and those with some experience, these four courses build up a fundamental understanding of palaeography.  Each course is stand-alone, but the four will also work together to reinforce existing and new knowledge, together with an understanding of the most common documents used in local and family history.

 Palaeography level 2. – Reading old handwriting the next steps  [2nd module of 4; or standalone]

For those who have done the Starters course and wish to move on, or with some knowledge who need to brush up their skills. We also tackle ways in which to use the context of the document to aid our understanding.

 Dr. Caroline Adams has a professional archives qualification and is a registered member of the Archives and Records Association.  Until 2014 she   was Senior Archivist at West Sussex Record Office, and is now a freelance archivist, palaeographer and historian.

Our online tutorials provide guidance on a broad range of topics. They are open to everyone.

In order to be able to join the tutorial you will need access to ZOOM. On the day of the Tutorial you will be sent a unique ID and password.

Please allow for two hours for the session, including joining and discussions. The talk will last approximately an hour.
