Publishing Your Research Online: Why and How?

The Internet offers opportunities to connect with fellow researchers and family members across the world. This talk explores some techniques available to share your research data, and describes the benefits and limitations of each.

Paul Carter is a Chartered IT Professional, career software developer, and Associate of AGRA, the professional genealogist body. He's founder and Managing Director of Beachshore (www.beachshore.co.uk), who provide web and data management solutions to a range of genealogy businesses and organisations. In the post-pandemic world, this means working with an increasing number of societies make their valuable datasets available online to members and the wider public.

He's also the creative brains behind Name & Place (www.nameandplace.com), the essential cloud software solution designed to support local history research projects, one-name (surname) studies and one-place study projects.

Combining his extensive expertise in technology with his passion and knowledge of genealogy and family and local history, Paul is frequently invited to deliver talks on these subjects. The talks are always aimed with the non-technical in mind as Paul tries to demystify technology and help relate new developments to our world of old documents.

Our online tutorials provide guidance on a broad range of topics. They are open to everyone.

In order to be able to join the tutorial you will need access to ZOOM. On the day of the Tutorial you will be sent a unique ID and password.

Please allow for two hours for the session, including joining and discussions. The talk will last approximately an hour.
