Who Do You Think You Armigerous? An IHGS Heraldry tutorial - Genealogists also welcome! with Chris Broom 9th May 7pm

This two hour tutorial will re-work the Who Do You Think You Are? episode featuring Josh Widdicombe, demonstrating how heraldry and associated published sources can be harnessed to trace an individual’s ancestry.

The session is designed to appeal to genealogists and heraldists alike; those with some knowledge of heraldry will be given a chance to brush up on their blazoning skills and the use of Papworth’s Ordinary of Arms.

There will also be some focus on the use of Ruvigny’s The Blood Royal of Britain and The Plantagenet Roll - navigation of which can be mastered by regular practice and the application of some simple principles.

Our online tutorials provide guidance on a broad range of topics. They are open to everyone.

In order to be able to join the tutorial you will need access to ZOOM. On the day of the Tutorial you will be sent a unique ID and password.

Please allow for two hours for the session, including joining and discussions. The talk will last approximately an hour.

The numbers are limited. If the bookings are full, please contact the registrar@ihgs.ac.uk as new dates will be added.
